Why Annotated Bibliography?

You must have been wondering why we need to learn and use Annotated Bibliography. What do you think?

Please pull out one of the sources you have found so far for your IRP. If you have not got any source yet (work harder!!!), find any academic journal or scholarly article.

Go to the reference page and count how many sources are listed there. While you do the counting, you need to stand up.

Do you think you can manage to keep track of so many sources without some kind of magic? Of course not!!! The magic trick is ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY.

Annotated Bibliography Analysis

Here are two samples of Annotated Bibliography. Group 1 will analyze AB1, and Group 2 will analyze AB2. When you analyze, you will have to fill out this chart. After you finish, please stand up and find a person from the other group to share the results of your analysis.

This homework assignment is worth 15% of your final grade. What you have to do is to use what we have learned today, and create 5 Annotated Bibliography. Like the Pre-research Portfolio, you will find it very helpful when you get to the final stage of writing your IRP.

Day 26 (Oct 24) - Source Relevancy & Worshop

Today we will...

1. learn to judge how relevant the sources you have chosen are to your research paper topic
2. have a workshop on the pre-research portfolio

Source Relevancy

QUESTION
1. What if you can't find good sources to support your critcal thinking and analysis of the solutions?
2. What if the sources you have found only state good points of the problem?
3. What if you can't find really relevant sources?

Well, that means, you need a little adjustment.

Once you are able to make the adjustments, you will be able to go on with your research process with no problem.

Workshop

Open your pre-research portfolio in googledrive. Work with a partner. Try to evaluate and make some suggestions to your partner's portfolio. Remember, make constructive suggestions. Don't try to crush your partner down.

Submission Guidelines

1. Based on the comments I have given you on your portfolio, make revisions and adjustments.
2. Once you are satisfied with your work, make a copy of the portfolio in your googledrive folder. The naming of the file should be like this, for example if it is my portfolio, I will name it PP_Eric
3. Remember, never delete the comments I have given you in the original portfolio.
4. When you export the file from googledrive, make sure that you change your final file to pdf format.
5. Submit your pdf file to Compass 2g by 11:59 pm, 10/27/2014 (next Monday).
