Please use this form to synthesize your sources in PIE structure for the description, the critique and the improvements of your solutions. This is very useful in helping you organize your ideas and sources when you write your IRP.

Pull out one of your sources you have found so far for your research paper. Based on the skills you have learned from last lesson, summarize the main content of the source. Make sure you include all the necessary information.

Day 30 (Nov 3) - Summarizing Sources 1

2. write a 5-sentence summary of a research paper for the annotation

Why Annotated Bibliography?

You must have been wondering why we need to learn and use Annotated Bibliography. What do you think?

Please pull out one of the sources you have found so far for your IRP. If you have not got any source yet (work harder!!!), find any academic journal or scholarly article.

Go to the reference page and count how many sources are listed there. While you do the counting, you need to stand up.

Do you think you can manage to keep track of so many sources without some kind of magic? Of course not!!! The magic trick is ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY.

Here are two samples of Annotated Bibliography. Group 1 will analyze AB1, and Group 2 will analyze AB2. When you analyze, you will have to fill out this chart. After you finish, please stand up and find a person from the other group to share the results of your analysis.

This homework assignment is worth 15% of your final grade. What you have to do is to use what we have learned today, and create 5 Annotated Bibliography. Like the Pre-research Portfolio, you will find it very helpful when you get to the final stage of writing your IRP.
